As a team, our beliefs are impacted by our centre philosophy, which is built on a strong foundation of respect, empowerment, family and the relationships among children, families, teachers, and the wider society. Our centre promotes the role of the parents by having an open-door policy, which encourages all parents/ whānau to be a part of their child’s learning.  The exchange of ideas between parents and teachers is vital in creating a more positive and productive learning environment, that supports us in better understanding the child. We work collaboratively with the local schools with a Set for School programme that provides support to children and parents with regular school visits prior to your child joining. During these regular visits your child is assigned a buddy and will attend their routine classes which allows them a sense of belonging and confidence for when they officially join. Most buddy’s assigned will be a familiar face as they would of recently graduated from Johnstones Road Kindy and will support your child in their transition.
