March was a vibrant and meaningful month at BestStart Kauri Flats! Our tamariki and kaiako came together to celebrate cultural events, spread joy, and support our community through hands-on learning and festive fun.

The month of March has been a busy one for us at BestStart Kauri Flats. Children and teachers enjoyed celebrating the Holi Festival, St Patrick’s Day, and supporting the Plunket Butterfly Appeal.

Holi is a festival that symbolises the renewal of affection, joy, and unity. It promotes multiculturalism, strengthens friendships, and brings people together through the joyful use of colour. At our centre, children celebrated with dancing, water play, and colourful fun with their friends—creating lasting memories.

St Patrick’s Day, held on 17 March, marks the passing of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Our tamariki learnt that St Patrick was born in Roman Britain, captured by Irish raiders at age 16, and later escaped after six years of enslavement. At the centre, children explored themed learning through painting, mat time, and storytelling, gaining insight into this historical celebration.

We also proudly supported the Plunket Butterfly Appeal, raising funds to help families in need. At Kauri Flats, the children enjoyed baking cupcakes with their teachers. This fun, hands-on activity helped them practise early maths skills like counting, weighing, and measuring. It also gave them the chance to contribute to their community in a meaningful way.
