BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. BestStart Omokoroa in The Bay of Plenty provides affordable, high quality education and award winning childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

At BestStart Ōmokoroa we are passionate locals!

Together with our local hapū, our local schools, our whānau and community we are building strong foundations for life-long learners and empowering them to grow as the community grows around us.

At BestStart Ōmokoroa, our curriculum is a play-based tamariki lead curriculum, guided by the NZ ECE curriculum Te Whāriki, Te tiriti o Waitangi and Te Pūtiki wharenui a Tamatea 2020. We embrace all tamariki as we provide an authentic, culturally diverse and inclusive curriculum by acknowledging the diverse heritage and needs of all tamariki and their whanau. We believe the role of the Kaiako/teacher is to nurture, empower and love our tamariki while supporting the tamariki to achieve at their own pace.

You can find us on the Ōmokoroa Peninsula, where we are surrounded by the Tauranga Harbour, Matakana and Motuhua Islands and have views of the Kaimai Ranges and Mauao. We are part of a fast-growing community that has the philosophy ‘Live, Work and Play’ and believe our tamariki should be supported with the same philosophy. We encourage our tamariki to learn while they play with our play-based curriculum.

Our Spaces

We are very blessed at Ōmokoroa BestStart we have 5 purpose-built classrooms that cater the individual growth and needs of your tamariki. We let the child progress at their own pace, which means the different rooms are to moved through when they are ready, the ages below are only a small indication. The room names come from the birds of Ōmokoroa

Sadie's Mum

Our daughter Sadie is 2 years old and started in the Kotare room in June, this was her first experience of attending any form of daycare or being left with other people who aren’t our family. She was a bit hesitant at first but she loves ‘her school’ now. She talks about her friends and her teachers constantly. The teachers are so lovely and have made us totally feel at ease when we leave her there. She does so many cool activities each time she attends and I loves playing on the playground outside.

It was quite a big decision for us to move our 3 year old son to a new centre, when he was happy at his previous centre, and to choose a centre for our 6month old to start at. However, we are so happy we chose to enroll them at Beststart Omokoroa. They both settled in really fast and love arriving at the centre. This has made going back to work after maternity leave so much easier for me.The staff are all so friendly and our whole family is always made to feel really welcome. The teachers have been so supportive of our family and their knowledge and experience has been really helpful. It's wonderful to see our children so happy and confident, and enjoying new experiences that they wouldn't get at home. Thank you Beststart Omokoroa
