From bunny hunts to egg races and creative crafts, BestStart Onehunga's Easter Week was full of laughter, learning, and whānau-inspired fun!

The tamariki and kaiako at BestStart Onehunga had an amazing week celebrating Easter.

In the weeks leading up to Easter, we asked the children how they would like to celebrate. We brainstormed ideas together, including suggestions from tamariki about how Easter is celebrated in their homes. These ideas were written up and displayed in the rooms for feedback from whānau.

From this, we created an Easter Week Holiday Programme to celebrate the festive season. Throughout the week, tamariki were busy making Easter arts and crafts. These included Easter egg baskets for the Easter egg hunt, bunny headbands, papier-mâché creations, 2D Easter eggs, and egg drawings. The children were very proud of their work and loved sharing it with their families.

We also enjoyed many fun and exciting Easter games. Tamariki were especially enthusiastic about the egg and spoon race, eagerly trying to balance the egg without dropping it. They also had a great time playing Easter egg rolling, trying to keep their egg on the line as they rolled it forward.

To round off the week, we had a dress-up day with face painting and an exciting Easter bunny hunt. Tamariki had so much fun searching for origami bunnies, which had been artfully created and hidden around the centre by our wonderful whānau.
