Whanau/Family

We provide a home away from home here at BestStart Papanui and through open communication, aroha and by gathering whānau aspirations we are able to work in partnerships with our whānau to provide the best learning spaces for our tamariki mā.

Taiao/Environments

We provide a centre that values both inside and outside environments; viewing them as important teachers in our learning. We embrace the concept of kaitiakitanga as we promote being guardians of our spaces; role modelling respect and care for all areas of our environment. We strive to ensure thoughtful, meaningful and fun environments are available for our tamariki ma that encourage curiosity, imagination and extend interests.

Ako/Learning

As a diverse centre we pride ourselves on meeting the needs of each and every individual mokopuna that comes through our doors. We value a learning through play approach that is child led and flexible; ensuring autonomy of play for our tamariki ma. From pepe to older tamariki we value our care routines as a big part of a child’s learning journey and ensure that our programme provides nurturing moments and plenty of aroha.

Our Spaces

We love to get outside and enjoy our amazing playground! We are so lucky to have a huge outdoor area with beautiful fruit trees and vegetable gardens. This amazing playground environment is pretty exceptional and provides our children with the opportunity to develop their own working theories out in nature, challenge themselves and have fun while getting their hands and feet dirty. Just wait until you see it, it really is impressive!

The team at BestStart Papanui have been like a second family to our family – always supportive, providing wonderful care and teachings for both my children from nursery to preschool. My 16 month old twins go to the nursery at BestStart Papanui, it is an amazing nursery that is warm and welcoming, My boys have created wonderful bonds with their teachers who are the most amazing people, they are always finding new ways for the boys to explore their environment and the boys always get to try different things and have new experiences. But most importantly they are happy and love going to preschool.

Well it's now the end of a fun filled 7 (ish) years with you guys as part of our family. Thank-you for all the work you have put into Eden and Blake, helping them grow into confident little people, that love experiencing all that the world has to offer. All we asked when we left them in your care was to let them learn through play, and experiences. And they have just thrived with you guys which we have loved watching. Both kids are so confident, social and accepting of all people, and that is a huge thanks to you all. We will miss seeing your fantastic faces daily but its now onto new adventures.

I would just like to thank the whole team at BestStart Papanui. I really value the quality of care and education the teachers provide the children. They support the development needs of each child very well, especially my granddaughter with her speech, it has improved so much since being at Papanui. Papanui is a clean, tidy and inviting centre, from when you walk in, with engaged children, playing happily, with lots of fun resources. The support they provide to the families is excellent. I really value the level of communication, the involvement in the children’s learning journey - Storypark, daily communication and emails. The quality of teachers there is amazing.

All the teachers seem to know the children individually well! My daughter loves“kindy” and is always eager to go, which is wonderful to see her enjoying it so much.

The staff are very friendly, and committed to giving my children the best experience they can while at preschool. They are very supportive and both my children trust each teacher completely. My now six year old loved BestStart, and my four year old, who is still at BestStart Papanui, always enjoys his days there. The teachers regularly update me on my child's goals, and involve me in setting them. The other children and parents at the centre are great as well. And, to top it off, the outdoor play space is amazing!
