We strive to offer a rich variety of learning experiences that inspire curiosity and imaginative play. Drawing on play-based curriculum and intentional teaching, our Set for School programme evolves from the current interests and individual learning needs of all tamariki.
We observe and respond to children’s curiosities, building an emergent curriculum that reflects their interests—much like the Reggio Emilia-inspired, project-based approach, which invites children to investigate, explore, and create through open-ended inquiry. Our educators act as co-researchers, engaging in respectful dialogue, asking thoughtful questions, and supporting children as active constructors of their own learning
In line with Reggio Emilia principles, our environment is an active, intentional participant in learning—not just a backdrop. We create flexible, aesthetically pleasing, natural-light-filled spaces with real tools, natural materials, and thoughtfully arranged resources that invite exploration, collaboration, and expression. Spaces evolve alongside the children—reflecting their evolving interests and supporting communicative, social, and creative growth.
Our vision is deeply rooted in kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga, and whanaungatanga—embedding a Māori worldview of guardianship, care, respect, and community. These values mirror our approach to stewardship of both environment and relationships, nurturing children to become responsible and generous contributors. Aligned with Te Whāriki, we focus on working theories, holistic development, and pedagogical documentation—honoring culture, family, and identity in every learning moment.
