This age group has two environments - one for adventure where the children get busy exploring, and the other space for calming experiences and care moments like getting ready for bed, having a bottle and having nappy checks and changes.
The staff in the Potiki room are incredibly experienced and are happy to support families with advice and knowledge for this age group including breastfeeding, introducing solids, creating sleep routines and more!
In this room we run by children's individual routines - you tell us what they do when at home and we follow that at the centre.

Potiki RoomUnder 2's
Pukeko Room2 - 3.5 years
Social skill development is a priority in this room and our team of teachers here have been at BestStart Russell Street the longest. The three teachers combine have been at the centre for more than 30 years! They are experts at providing experiences to develop childrens social skills and are professionals at toilet training.
Pakeke RoomOver 3's
This room is where the Set for School programme is most important. The programme is individualised for all learners with a focus on developing independence, confidence and self help skills. This room has initiatives like a weekly show and tell, group mat times, and a variety of literacy and numeracy learning experiences.
