BestStart Silverstream is a beautiful, purpose-built early learning centre conveniently located off the northern motorway in Kaiapoi, Christchurch. We offer high-quality early education and award-winning childcare for children aged from 3 months to 6 years old.

At BestStart Silverstream, we believe in the value and importance of creating special connections with tamariki (children) and whanau (family). Our dedicated team of teachers implement RIE/Pikler-inspired teaching and work closely alongside families, providing support and regular updates on your child's development through open communication. Our play-based approach to early education encourages children to explore, problem-solve, build relationships, and develop their independence and self-confidence skills.

We also work with the local community, such as local schools, to help your child during their transition to primary school and we incorporate our Set for School program to prepare your child for the next step in their learning journey. We have regular community excursions to local parks and cafes, strengthening the relationships between centre, whanau, and community.

Our Team

Our experienced team of teachers promote a culture of kindness and warmth. We build close relationships with our families to ensure together we provide the very best support and opportunities for each child. We understand that our diverse range of families have different desires for their children and the team at BestStart Silverstream work closely with each family to incorporate their child's values and routines within the centre.

What We Offer

  • A warm, dedicated team of qualified teachers and caregivers
  • 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies available* if required

Our Spaces

Our learning environments are warm and welcoming with age-focused resources to support each child's stage of learning and development. Our spacious outdoor areas are designed to allow children to explore and develop their motor skills and confidence in a natural, stimulating environment.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for being the awesome team you are and looking after my children so well. Every time I have come in Miryn and Corban have been acknowledged by their name and also myself as well. You guys all stop to take the time to talk and really care about each and every child in your care. The last preschool the kids went to it was conveyed to parents to get in and drop off or pick up your child as quickly as possible and to try not to talk to the teachers. I have definitely made the best decision for my babies and I am truly happy to be apart of this awesomeness you have going on.

I especially want to thank the preschool team and relievers. While fetching Callen early this week, you have been busy with a fun activity or quality interactions every time. Our son has thrived at BestStart Silverstream, starting at 9 months old it has provided him with a safe and supportive environment to grow and explore the world around him. for us, BestStart has provided him with a range of learning and discovery opportunities of which we couldn't provide at home. He is really happy there and the staff are like his family, he never wants to leave at the end of the day!
