Discover our unique rooms

BestStart Silverstream is a spacious, purpose-built childcare centre with three welcoming classrooms designed around the different ages and stages of your child's early years. Our centre has recently had a freshen-up, including upgraded outdoor spaces and a new-look playground for children to enjoy.

Inside and out, children have plenty of room to play, explore, be active and build confidence, with spaces and resources suited to their stage of development. Our outdoor areas provide plenty of opportunities for children to enjoy fresh air, challenge themselves and develop their physical skills through play.

Explore our classrooms below to discover more about each space and what your child can enjoy at BestStart Silverstream.

Tohora (Nursery)(0 - 2 years old)

Tohoroa is a warm, nurturing space for our youngest tamariki, with calm, unhurried routines that help children feel safe and settled while they discover the world around them. Within the room, our dedicated Nest provides a cosy, secure space for babies who are not yet mobile. The room also has its own dedicated outdoor play space, giving babies the freedom to explore safely at their own pace.

  • A safe start: The Nest gives our youngest, non-mobile babies a protected space to rest, explore and interact with their surroundings at their own pace.
  • Start with Heart: Through play and everyday experiences, babies are supported to reach important developmental milestones while building confidence and independence.
  • Strong relationships: Each child has a familiar teacher who gets to know their individual needs, routines and personality, helping them build a trusting relationship and feel secure away from home.

Tohoroa provides a gentle start to childcare, where babies can feel safe, cared for and confident as they grow and explore.

Pāpaku Room (Toddlers)(2 - 3.5 years old)

Pāpaku is a fun and welcoming space where toddlers can explore, play and grow in confidence as they become more independent. With a balance of play, familiar routines and plenty of opportunities to be active, children can learn at their own pace while building friendships.

  • Learning through play: Age-appropriate resources and experiences encourage children to explore their interests, try new things and develop new skills.
  • Growing independence: Purpose-built indoor and outdoor spaces give children opportunities to make choices, do things for themselves and build confidence.
  • Growing together: Pāpaku shares our recently upgraded playground with Teko Teko, giving children opportunities to play alongside older tamariki, build relationships and learn from each other.

Pāpaku gives toddlers the space and support they need to explore their growing independence while feeling safe, connected and part of the wider centre community.

Teko Teko (Prep Room)(3.5 - 6 years old)

Teko Teko is a purpose-built space for preschool tamariki, supporting children as they grow in confidence, independence and prepare for their transition to primary school. Children enjoy a balance of learning through play, building friendships and developing the skills they need for their next big step.

  • Set for School: Our programme helps children build early literacy, numeracy, social and practical skills, while developing the confidence and independence they need for starting school.
  • Learning through play: The room provides opportunities for children to explore their interests, solve problems, be creative and develop new skills in a fun, engaging environment.
  • A shared space to grow: Teko Teko shares our recently upgraded playground with Pāpaku, giving children opportunities to play, learn and build relationships with children at different stages.

Teko Teko is a supportive space where children can develop the confidence and skills they need to feel ready and excited for their transition to school.
