Exploration is a common parent aspiration of our centre whanau with young pepi. Our pepi are learning to become young explorers.

Te Whare Tapa Wha is embedded in our philosophy and ways of being at BestStart Sunset. A part of the BestStart way is to ensure our daily programme reflects 16 Areas of Play.

In the Takahe Room, our infant room, the babies have been enjoying being given the opportunities to freely engage in these areas of play. Our pepi are enjoying physical play while engaging in water, sand, sensory and nature play during these warmer days.

This supports their physical health by taking care of their tinana. From collaging and messy play to painting and playdough. Our well-resourced centre has provided our pepi with opportunities to make sense of their wider world through manipulating resources in areas of play such as building, block play, and playing with puzzles.

This allows them to build a strong belief in themselves and their capabilities. We celebrate our successes as individuals and as a whole, we love sharing our achievements with each other and our whanau. In our centre, we connect with our whenua through karakia timatanga and karakia mutunga, we open and close our day with local karakia, stories and waiata.

This provides our tamariki with the opportunity to build responsive reciprocal relationships with each other, build their social competence, and ensure their hinengaro and wairua needs are met.

Our tamariki, our whanau, our staff, our community hold the saying – Mauria te Pono – Believe in Yourself, close to our hearts.
