This morning was a delightful journey back to some of our favourite resources and songs— like Speckled Frogs and The Cupcakes!
It’s always such a joy to see how these timeless classics continue to captivate and engage the children! We kicked things off with the lively Speckled Frogs song, and before long, the fun doubled as the children invited the cupcakes to join in the play.
Their enthusiasm and confidence shone through as they gathered their friends and encouraged everyone to take part. One of the most special parts of the morning was watching the children experiment with different ways to count, sort, and take turns.
It wasn’t just fun—it was a rich learning moment! We observed them patiently waiting for their turn and thoughtfully choosing a peer to play next. Alongside the play, early math skills naturally slipped in.
Counting the frogs and cupcakes, and even subtracting as they hopped away or were ‘eaten,’ gave everyone a hands-on way to explore numbers and quantities. Ka mau te wehi! What an awesome example of learning through play.
It’s moments like these that remind us just how powerful and joyful early childhood education can be.
