A special Christmas and New Year's Eve at BestStart Kelvin Grove

Here at BestStart Kelvin Grove, our cook and team went the extra mile to make Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve extra special for our Tamariki who attended.

For Christmas Eve, our amazing cook Jo created a very delicious Healthy Heart approved Christmas tree of wraps. Our Tamariki loved seeing her dressed up in her Elf Apron. We also had a couple of van trips running in the morning to ‘Home 4 Xmas’ who opened their doors specially for our Tamariki to see all their cool decoration setups. The Tamariki absolutely loved seeing the different decorations.

At the end of the day, a few of the children went down to see Jo and gave her a special Christmas card thanking her for all her hard work in making Christmas Eve so special. We had a lot of positive parent feedback thanking us for creating such a special day for their Tamariki. On New Year’s Eve, we hired a bouncy castle which was touch and go there due to the weather but thankfully the bouncy castle people didn’t want our children to miss out on the fun so they went the extra mile to ensure they got to have to lots of fun.

There were dance parties, lots of bouncing and even a foot spa! What an amazing couple of days where we not only celebrated our vision of being at one with Child, Whanau and Community but also ensured we are living and breathing respect – manaakitanga one of our priorities for learners, as we respectfully looked around the decorations and showed thanks and kindness to those who went above and beyond for our special days. We are looking forward to celebrating many more special days throughout the year.
