At BestStart MacDonald Street a big part of our vision is making connections with our local area and to do that we love getting out into our local community.
We like to do this special excursion every couple of weeks and our tamariki never get bored; popping on down to the Tauranga Moana Airport in our centre participation van to watch planes take off while enjoying kai made by our amazing centre cook and a fluffy from the cafe!
We have been so lucky that our airport excursions have allowed us to explore and engage with lots of different people. We even got to meet an actual Air New Zealand pilot and he let us try on his hat.
Going down to the airport brings a lot of excitement and it makes our connections stronger, especially with how close it is to our centre. Excursions help us to make further sense of the world and grow us into active explorers, it is so much fun seeing new things and visiting places that some our tamariki never go and hopefully it inspires them to travel or maybe even become a pilot!
What a great way of seeing the world and having the opportunity right at our doorstep!
