Art Deco We wish to thank our whānau at Beststart Napier Central for supporting our Art Deco festivities today! The tamariki enjoyed dressing up in their special Art Deco clothes and didn’t they all look fabulous?

There was so much excitement as everybody was keen to show off their costumes to each other. This afternoon was celebrated with a high tea where tamariki enjoyed little club sandwiches, an array of wee pikelets and scones, and a lovely refreshing herbal tea to follow.

Art Deco is an intrinsic part of our localized curriculum. It enables us to support every akonga to be strong in their identity and to learn more about the place they call home, no matter where they are from. This year marks the 93rd anniversary of the Napier Earthquake. And after three years of unexpected interruptions, we are ready to enjoy this unique event again! Many of our BestStart Napier Central families are new to the beautiful Hawke’s Bay and this might be the first time that you get to experience a Napier Art Deco.

This is a link for you to learn more about the different events (the flight show on Friday night is a highlight, and great to watch from the lookout on Mataruahou (‘The Hill’) or to enjoy a picnic on the Marine Parade!) https://artdecofestival.co.nz/ He rā anō ki tua - one day at a time!
