Our Carnival Day was a wonderful celebration filled with laughter, colour, and shared experiences, creating memories that will stay with us for a long time. From the moment the day began, there was a buzz of excitement as our kaiako dressed up and embraced the carnival spirit, setting the scene for a fun-filled day.

One of the biggest highlights was the visit from the ice cream truck. Tamariki were delighted as they enjoyed their ice creams and shared the experience with friends. Moments like these strengthen friendships and build a strong sense of belonging within our learning community.

Throughout the day, tamariki took part in classic carnival games, including ring toss and bobbing for ducks. These activities encouraged turn-taking, problem-solving, and coordination, while promoting confidence and resilience as children cheered each other on.

At lunchtime, we enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle, followed by fairy bread for afternoon tea — a firm favourite that added to the festive atmosphere. Sharing kai provided opportunities for conversation, connection, and whanaungatanga.

To finish the day, we visited Wet Pets to purchase supplies for our classroom tadpoles, who are nearly ready to become frogs, and welcomed new fish into our class tank in Kaiarangahau. This experience supported learning about caring for living things, sparking curiosity and discussions about responsibility and empathy.

Carnival Day was a beautiful blend of fun, learning, and community. We are proud of how our tamariki embraced the day and grateful to our kaiako for creating such a joyful and memorable experience.
