Summer at BestStart Pipiwai Road was filled with laughter, excitement, and learning as we hosted a vibrant Summer Carnival for our tamariki. The playground was transformed into a fun-filled space with activity booths where children eagerly took part in classic games such as skittles, ring toss, beanbag toss, and the ever-popular pop-the-balloon.
Each activity was thoughtfully designed to support the development of fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and teamwork. A highlight of the carnival was seeing children celebrate one another’s successes, cheer for their friends, and enjoy the thrill of friendly competition.
The joy on their faces as they won small prizes, along with the sense of accomplishment that came from mastering new games, made the day truly special.
The fun continued beyond the carnival as we also celebrated Nature Scientist Day. Children embraced their inner scientists as they planted flowers and small plants, learning about soil, sunlight, and water through hands-on experiences.
Tamariki also explored simple science experiments, sparking curiosity and nurturing a sense of wonder about how the natural world grows and changes. These experiences brought our centre community closer together while providing meaningful opportunities for learning and growth.
