Over the past five weeks, our tamariki have been immersed in a beautiful journey exploring Matariki. Through stories, waiata, art, and shared kai, they learnt about remembrance, reflection, and looking forward.

A huge thank you to all who joined us for our Matariki Whānau Evening—what a special night of connection, celebration, and community! It was heartwarming to see everyone come together to honour this significant time of year.

As winter settles in, we’ve been supporting our toddlers to take responsibility for their belongings. With rain jackets and gumboots becoming part of daily life, we’re encouraging independence in getting dressed and keeping track of clothing. This not only helps them develop practical skills but also fosters a sense of responsibility and self-reliance.

We’ve also been talking a lot about hauora—our health and wellbeing. From washing hands to resting when tired, our tamariki are learning how to care for themselves and recognise their needs. These lessons are crucial for their overall development and help them understand the importance of self-care.

Music and movement continue to bring joy and rhythm to our days, helping children express themselves and stay active, even when we’re indoors. Whether it's dancing to a favourite song or participating in a group activity, these moments of movement are vital for their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Additionally, we are focusing on social and emotional development. By encouraging positive interactions and teaching tamariki to express their feelings safely, we are helping them build strong relationships and develop empathy. These skills are essential for their growth and will benefit them throughout their lives.
