We take pride in our multicultural and diverse community and celebrate all the different culture that make up our centre..This provides a range of opportunities for our children and families to celebrate differences. It creates opportunities to develop their self-identity and to encourage respectful and responsive relationships with others.

It’s one aspect of diversity, which also embraces differences in gender, disabilities, age, social, and economic backgrounds.

At BestStart Stoddard Road, we encourage families to participate in cultural activities that strengthens children’s self-identity and promotes an inclusive practice. We had a fun week of Tongan celebration where children and teachers dressed up, cooking, arts and crafts to make Tongan flags, singing and dancing. Special thanks to our Vea and Lesoni Whanau for bringing in Tongan resources to make skirts, hand bands and Teki (head piece) and a very special mat time organised for our tamariki where we learnt Tongan songs and a few Tongan dance moves from Grace.
