Kia ora, December has been a truly wonderful month here at BestStart Onehunga. As we come to the end of the year, we have been enjoying the happiness, laughter, and festive atmosphere this season brings. It is a meaningful time to acknowledge and celebrate our tamariki, our whānau, and the supportive community we are proud to be part of.

Our centre came together for a festive and meaningful Christmas Day celebration. Across the Kea Room, Uenuku Room, and Pāua Room, the day was marked by warmth, joy, and togetherness. Tamariki dressed in festive Christmas colours, creating a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere throughout the centre.

In the Kea Room, our youngest tamariki enjoyed a calm and nurturing Christmas experience. Gentle Christmas songs provided a familiar backdrop, while storytime was a key highlight. Tamariki engaged with age-appropriate Christmas stories, enjoying quiet moments of comfort, connection, and routine.

The Uenuku Room celebration focused on creativity and self-expression. Tamariki arrived proudly dressed in festive attire and took part in a range of Christmas-themed art and craft activities. These experiences supported exploration, fine motor development, and collaboration as children shared ideas and created meaningful festive artwork together.

In the Pāua Room, tamariki participated in a variety of Christmas-themed activities that encouraged active engagement and creative expression. Music and dance were highlights of the day, offering opportunities for movement, rhythm, and shared enjoyment. Tamariki showed enthusiasm and confidence as they celebrated alongside their peers.

It was heartening to see Christmas celebrations across all three rooms reflect the developmental stages and interests of our tamariki. The day fostered a strong sense of community and belonging and provided a positive and memorable way to conclude the year. We thank our whānau for their continued support and look forward to many more shared celebrations as we continue learning and growing together.
