This year BestStart Cranford street participated in fundraising for daffodil day. We had really amazing whanau engagement and raised well over what we expected for the Cancer Society. As well as fundraising, it was important for us to show our support for those living with cancer, especially those in our centre who have been affected.

We had a whole centre yellow dress up day and it was really amazing to see all the tamariki get involved and come in their wonderful yellow clothes. There we some interesting outfits from our Kaiako! In our Nursery we had a really fun day with lots of dancing and some yellow themed sensory play. The tamariki loved to play with the yellow coloured rice!

In our Explorers room (2yrs) we made some beautiful daffodil stencils which the tamariki enjoyed painting. We also played around with some stencils and yellow paint to develop fine motor skills. Our preschool room (3yrs) had a very fun day with lots of yellow coloured sensory play. We had yellow rice and yellow gloop which were both lots of fun. We also played with Rakau to develop hand eye co-ordination and rhythm and music skills.

The Extension room (4yrs) explored the science of dilution with yellow food colouring and water. Each child had a turn pouring different ratios of coloured water and clear water into a glass to measure the change in colour. Lots of fun and learning was had exploring basic science. Overall, it was a wonderful day and both Tamariki and Kaiako had lots of fun in our bright yellow centre. If you would like to join us here, reach out and come for a visit!
