At BestStart Lakeside Village, storytelling is more than just reading books—it’s about creating magical moments that spark imagination, build language skills, and strengthen connections.
Every story opens a world of possibilities for tamariki, helping them explore ideas, express emotions, and develop confidence in their communication.
Our kaiako weave storytelling into daily learning through engaging oral stories, waiata, puppetry, and child-led narratives. These experiences celebrate te ao Māori and the diverse cultures within our community, ensuring every child feels seen and valued.
One of the highlights of our storytelling programme is the fortnightly visit from our local librarian, Lynley. Her sessions are a favourite among the children! Lynley brings new books and captivating tales that transport tamariki into exciting adventures.
These visits not only inspire a love for reading but also introduce children to the joy of libraries and the wider community. We also encourage whānau to share family stories, traditions, and languages, making storytelling a truly collaborative experience. Every story told becomes a thread in the rich tapestry of our centre, fostering belonging and whanaungatanga. 📚
Come and experience the magic of storytelling at BestStart Lakeside Village—where stories come alive and learning lasts a lifetime!
