Last week the Fern Room children went on an excursion to KidZone, and we sure had a lot of fun! We were lucky that it was close enough to walk too, so off we went in hats and jackets down to the highschool. We spent a lot of time in Tiny Town where the children could explore different 'shops' and areas.

There were a lot of options for getting creative with colouring in, investigating different resources and strengthening our physical skills on climbing equipment and even a bouncy castle. The big car that the children could 'drive', 'wash' and climb into seemed to be the most popular amongst our tamariki! After a lunch break we continued to explore other KidZone experiences such as the Sensory Hallway and the Mega Blocks Room.

It was awesome to be able to engage in opportunities that the community has to offer, strengthen knowledge of our local surroundings and develop links between people, places and things. KidZone encouraged the tamariki to give new things a go, and supported their confidence in being in an unfamiliar place. Kaiako were very impressed by the whakarongo (listening) and mahi tahi (teamwork) demonstrated throughout our trip by our tamariki and we are looking forward to our next outing!
