Out and about! Every term, our amazing teaching team organises fun excursions for our tamariki

We believe these trips are fantastic learning opportunities where children can face challenges while being supported by our caring educators and family members.

They get to make meaningful connections with the world outside the early learning centre and learn new social skills, like knowing how to behave in different places, whether it’s a quiet library or a lively park.

Here are some of the exciting places our tamariki have visited:

Greerton Library: Both classes love visiting the library! Our babies in the Gecko room enjoy exploring the quiet activities, like puzzles and colouring. Meanwhile, our bigger tamariki in the Kiwi Class are regulars, excited to dive into the many book choices available. Each trip leaves them brimming with stories and happiness!

Nearby Parks: One of our Gecko class's favourite spots is the nearby park, just a short walk from our centre. The babies ride there in their prams, thanks to our wonderful kaikos and parent volunteers. The walk itself is an adventure, letting them explore the neighbourhood. Once at the park, they enjoy a yummy picnic prepared by our lovely Chef under the warm sun. A few brave ones even try out the swings, filling the air with hearty laughter!

Visit to Oropi Primary: This year, we had the special opportunity to take our “Set for School” kids (those turning 5) to Oropi Primary School. It was a lovely chance for our tamariki to see what primary school is like and discover how it’s different from our centre. They got to join in on the garden-to-table programme, planting vegetables and fruits, and even had the joy of meeting kaiako from the school and some old friends who had moved up!

These excursions are a wonderful way for our tamariki to learn more about our neighbourhood and build respect for others and their spaces.
