Happy Diwali हैप्पी दिवाली
Namaste "The beauty of this place lies in the cultures of our people." This is our centre vision. We truly believe this and live this every day. Over the month of November PikoPiko have celebrated Diwalli. We have been busy creating different rangoli, painting diya and celebrating the Indian culture however we could.
We also had a whanau, family night where all our families came together and shared a meal to celebrate the celebration of light of colour. For us it is incredibly important that our tamariki, children feel seen and are celebrated within our rooms and centre. We want our tamariki, children to feel proud of who they are. We also want tamraiki, children from other backgrounds to not shy away from the tamariki who are different to them or be hesitant if they see a culture, a food, hear a language or see a celebration they haven't come across previously. We want our tamarki, children to be able to embrace everyone around them.
So for us in the PikoPiko room we want to ensure we are really living and breathing our vision every day. Our project planning is through "learning through cultural celebrations" to ensure we are able to live our vison.
