Kia ora e te whānau, nau mai ki ngā mahi pārekareka o te wiki!
Our tamariki enjoyed a wide range of rich sensory experiences that encouraged them to explore, experiment, and discover through touch, sight, sound, and movement.
Sensory play is more than just an enjoyable activity- it plays an essential role in supporting early brain development. Each moment of squishing, squeezing, pouring, and mixing helps strengthen neural pathways that guide problem-solving, critical thinking, and emotional understanding.
Through these hands-on experiences, children develop important fine-motor skills as they manipulate different textures and materials. Sensory play also offers a calming and grounding effect, giving tamariki a safe space to regulate their emotions, build confidence, and follow their natural curiosity. Our teachers observed beautiful moments of collaboration, creativity, and communication as children shared ideas, tested new possibilities, and expressed their thinking in their own unique ways.
We love seeing how sensory experiences empower children to lead their own learning journey, make independent choices, and engage deeply with the world around them. These simple yet meaningful activities continue to spark joy, wonder, and discovery in the Mahuri Room every day.
He taonga te ako—learning is a treasure. Ka whakanuia e mātou ā tātou tamariki ia rā.
