Exciting Updates from Best Start Delta Ave At Best Start Delta Ave, we are dedicated to providing our children with diverse learning experiences both within our Centre and the broader community. We’re thrilled to share some recent highlights that showcase our commitment to creative projects, cultural celebrations, and enriching activities for our tamariki.
Celebrating Creativity We are proud to announce that we won the “Create a Centre Tree BestStart-NXP Competition”! Our Centre was honoured with a morning tea and certificate for this achievement. The tree artwork, created by our pre-schoolers and Kaiako, was a collaborative effort over nearly 15 days. It was a fantastic project that brought our community together, gave our tamariki the opportunity to revisit their project work and express their creativity. Matariki Celebrations In celebration of Matariki, we had a special soup lunch where our pre-schoolers actively participated in peeling and cutting vegetables.
This hands-on activity helped them learn about different vegetables, refine their fine motor skills, and work as a team. We were also delighted to have one of our Māori parents join us to bless and cut flax for our Matariki weaving. This added a meaningful cultural aspect to our celebration. Community Engagement As part of our commitment to local curriculum and community involvement, we take weekly walks to the New Lynn Library for story time. This regular outing not only enriches our children's literacy skills but also fosters their connection with the community. Hands-On Learning Our under-2s and toddlers have been enjoying various sensory and messy play activities, including clay and water play. These activities are designed to enhance their fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and social interactions. Variety and Fun With our Best Start 16 areas of play set up daily, our tamariki have a wide range of options to explore, learn, and enjoy.
Each area offers unique opportunities for play and learning, ensuring that every child can engage in activities that spark their interest and creativity.
