May has brought a fresh wave of inspiration and wonderful new resources to our Pikorua classroom.
You may have noticed some exciting changes in both our indoor and outdoor environments.
Our dedicated Kaiako have been hard at work transforming these spaces to become our “third teacher,” creating an environment that truly inspires and supports learning. Our tamariki have been responding with enthusiasm to these updates, engaging eagerly with the new materials and activities.
Recently, we’ve been exploring concepts like mirroring and symmetry, weaving these ideas into our art projects and messy play sessions. It’s been incredible to see how these creative experiences help deepen our children’s understanding while fostering their natural curiosity and joy in learning.
The Pikorua kaiako and tamariki are eagerly looking forward to next month’s focus on Matariki, a time rich with sharing and celebration. Our tamariki have already begun their learning journey, exploring the stories behind Matariki, expressing their creativity through art, and practicing a special Matariki dance that they will proudly perform at our upcoming Disco.
It’s awesome to see their enthusiasm and the beautiful way they are connecting with this important cultural event. We’re so excited to continue nurturing this vibrant learning environment and can’t wait to share more of our adventures with you from next months fun!
