Today’s Science Day activity provided children with an engaging, hands-on learning experience as they explored the chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda.

The children began by carefully scooping baking soda into cups placed in the middle of a water trough. This supported the development of hand–eye coordination and concentration, helping them control their movements as they focused on the task.

Next, the children were given bowls of vinegar and large spoons to transfer the liquid into the cups. Their first instinct was to immediately stir the mixture together. Teachers gently encouraged them to slow down, be patient, and observe what happened when the vinegar was poured in without stirring.

As the vinegar touched the baking soda, bubbles formed, built up, and slowly overflowed from the cups. The children watched closely and excitedly called out in surprise and delight. Some then experimented by pouring vinegar directly onto the baking soda or adding more of each ingredient, discovering that increasing the amounts created more bubbles and a stronger reaction.

Through this exploration, children began to understand cause and effect while developing curiosity about chemistry. The activity fostered scientific thinking, observation skills, and a growing interest in science through playful discovery.
