This week, our tamariki stepped into the roles of kaitiaki—guardians of our whenua—as we explored the wonders of our very own vege table garden.
With gumboots on and smiles wide, our little caretakers eagerly rolled up their sleeves to nurture the plants they’ve come to know and love.
The garden hummed with life as the tamariki took turns planting seeds, gently watering sprouts, and checking on the progress of their leafy companions. Every scoop of soil and splash of water was filled with intention and care.
These hands-on moments gave our tamariki a deeper connection to Papatūānuku and reinforced their sense of responsibility for the living world around them. But the magic didn’t stop there. With their mahi complete, the tamariki wandered into our fairy garden—a whimsical nook where imagination blooms as freely as the flowers.
Here, they entered a realm of make-believe, where fairies were hiden along the pathways, and tiny homes sparked stories of wonder. Giggles echoed as they crafted adventures, danced between blossoms, and imagined themselves as part of this enchanted world. Days like these are reminders that learning thrives when rooted in both care and creativity.
Through being kaitiaki and embracing the power of imaginative play, our tamariki are growing strong, in spirit and in heart.
