Our Amazing Mauao Trip
Here at BestStart MacDonalds street we love to explore our local curriculum. One of the best ways to do that is by taking our tamariki on regular trips to see our beautiful Mauao. Each week we take our tamariki in the bus, accompanied by two teachers, to go for a walk at the Mount. We talk about everything we see and hear.
Us Kaiako love to hear all the different stories the tamariki have. We listen to the different sounds and look at all the different colours we see. It is an intimate trip where you get to spend more one on one time with each child. The tamariki are always super excited and so well behaved. We get to practice our road safety skills when we cross the road. We greet our fellow walkers on the way (they loved seeing all the fishermen) and when we are finished we go and sit down at Pilot Bay and have a lovely picnic together that our amazing chef at the center prepared for us.
One of the highlights was seeing a big ship ready to dock. We sat down and watched it as it slowly docked and saw the other boats helping it. We read about Oscar the seal and spoke about how to look after our community. We can't wait to go back!
