Over the past few months, our tamariki at BestStart Mosgiel have been immersed in preparing for their moment on stage at PolyFest 2025!
With dedication, enthusiasm, and plenty of practice, they learned a range of waiata and dances that reflect the rich cultural diversity of our centre.
A highlight of our journey was the special support we received from one of our whānau members, who generously shared their time and knowledge to teach our children a beautiful Cook Island Māori song. This experience not only deepened the understanding of Pacific cultures for our tamariki but also strengthened our whanaungatanga – the sense of connection and belonging within our learning community.
Watching our tamariki perform in front of a large crowd was truly heartwarming. They stood with confidence and mana, embodying pride in their learning and culture. Their performance was a powerful reflection of the principles of Te Whāriki, particularly the strands of Contribution and Communication. Through this experience, our children demonstrated their ability to express themselves, work collaboratively, and take pride in their identity.
PolyFest was more than just a performance – it was a celebration of who we are, where we come from, and the values we hold dear. We are so proud of our tamariki and grateful to our whānau for walking alongside us in this journey.
