School Holidays Fun

111

During the July school holidays the kaiako of BestStart Russell street held some themed days for the children to take part in and enjoy. The purpose of these days is to give opportunity to have something a little different from the usual daily centre activities and routines when the centre can be a little less busy due to the holiday period. These holidays we had two dress-up days, one that was free to wear whatever they wanted, and the other was a frozen themed day.

The children absolutely love these days, as it gives them opportunity to express themselves in their own ways, showing their personality and a bit about themselves. We love these chances to involve our families in our centre fun and give children the chance to share their interests with others. Family and dramatic play (dress up) fosters role playing, self expression, social skills through play. On the last day of the holidays, we had a messy play day.

Messy play days are always a bit hit with the children, and what a fun way to end the school holidays. Messy play is such a fun area of play for children. Not only is it a heap of fun, but it also promotes learning about senses and the world around them through play.
