Come join us for some sensory play fun at Halswell road nursery!

Here in our nursery room we love sensory play! We enjoy setting out activities that stimulate children’s senses as well as provides them with an exciting well-presented activities to keep their busy bodies occupied. These stimulating experiences provide opportunities for children to develop muscles in their hands used for grasping, pulling and pushing objects.

Development of these muscles are important early physical skills which can later support their ‘set for school’ skills. Fine motor development in the early years supports the development of the pincer grip which is important for learning to write and create. These sensory activities are open ended and provide opportunities for children to practice noticing and investigating what they are playing with through making discoveries. This opens up opportunities for early numeracy skills such as basic counting, sorting and classifying objects.

Our Kaiako are passionate about providing sensory play activities that invite exploration, making discoveries, being curious, being involved and most importantly developing an enjoyment for learning. We would love the opportunity to show you and your little one our lovely play space full of sensory activities designed to support your little one’s early learning journey.
