We held our annual Set for School Evening for our whānau, and what a wonderful evening it was!
Our lovely Head Teacher, Vijeshni, delivered a meaningful presentation, sharing how we support and prepare our children for school readiness at every age and stage of their learning journey.
Whānau gained valuable insights into the skills, knowledge, and dispositions that help children transition confidently to school. Following the presentation, Team Melling transformed each room into interactive learning spaces, setting up a variety of hands-on experiences for parents to explore.
As whānau participated in the activities, our kaiako demonstrated the teaching strategies they use every day to enhance children's learning in areas such as literacy, numeracy, science, and self-help skills. It was especially heartwarming to see some whānau bring their children along. The tamariki proudly took on the role of teachers, showing their mums and dads what they do each day and explaining how they learn through play.
Seeing the children's confidence, knowledge, and enthusiasm as they shared their learning was a true highlight of the evening. Strong partnerships between home and centre play an important role in supporting children's learning and development, and we loved having the opportunity to share this journey with our whānau. Together, we are building confident, capable learners who are ready for their next adventures
