Te Reo Storytime at the Arrowtown Library
We took eight of our oldest children to story time at the Arrowtown library.
Such a cool opportunity to get out and about in the community, meet the locals and explore our wonderful surroundings. As we approached the library a very short walk from the preschool we were greeted by our local librarian Dominique (who visits our centre once a month) and directed into the children’s area all ready for storytime.
Susan, (todays storyteller) introduced herself to us in Te Reo and then we all introduced ourselves to her one at a time. We read five books together in Te Reo some we recognised and others were new. The first book was about feelings which is something we talk about alot at Monty so the children related well to this story. The children were very engaged and responsive to Susan’s questions and it was great to see them communicating in Te Reo and learning new vocabulary.
After storytime had finished we had the chance to choose some books to bring back to Monty, explore all that the library has to offer and of course do some colouring.
Te Reo story time happens every month so we are excited to go back again in June.
