The wind may have been howling outside, but inside Pikopiko we were busy turning it into a day full of fun and laughter!
Instead of letting the wild weather slow us down, our tamariki made the most of it with a day of messy play - exploring, experimenting, and getting hands-on with lots of different textures and materials.
We wrapped up our busy morning with a little indoor picnic lunch, sharing kai and smiles together. Days like this remind us that fun and learning can happen anywhere - it’s all about the attitude we bring! Messy play is such an important part of how tamariki learn.

Exploration | Mana Aotūroa, where children learn through curiosity, investigation, and discovery. Our kaiako support this by encouraging tamariki to explore freely, get creative, and problem-solve along the way. These experiences help build confidence, imagination, and a strong sense of belonging in our space. This day reflected our centre philosophy, “Our mountain stands as tall as its people,” reminding us that learning is about resilience, connection, and joy in every experience - rain or shine.
