What Happens in the School Holidays for the Under 2’s at Tawa South?
A whole lot of fun! Over the past few weeks, our Pikopiko Room has been buzzing with energy as tamariki have enjoyed an exciting holiday program.
We’ve been incredibly busy and having an absolute blast together! From being covered head to toe in paint, to getting splashed during water play, tamariki have had endless opportunities to explore their senses and express their creativity.
Baking days saw us decorated in royal icing (with plenty of taste-testing too!), while our hikoi to the local library gave tamariki the chance to explore new spaces, stories, and songs in our wider community. And this doesn’t even cover half of the fun we’ve had! These are just a few highlights our days have been overflowing with laughter, new experiences, and special moments that have made these holidays unforgettable.
Of course, all that fun can get a little messy but not to worry, tamariki are always sent home fresh, clean, and bathed, ready to share their stories from the day. Each of these experiences isn’t just about fun they are also valuable learning opportunities.
Messy play, water play, and baking connect beautifully to Te Whāriki’s Exploration | Mana Aotūroa strand, supporting tamariki to develop confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of curiosity. Our trips into the community build on Belonging | Mana Whenua, helping our under 2’s see themselves as part of a bigger world. These holidays have been full of laughter, learning, and special memories.
We can’t wait to see what adventures the next term brings!
