Wai, water play fun
Over the month of October the PikoPiko ruma, room have been busy making the most of the beautiful sunny weather with some wai, water play. We can learn so much through wai, water play. Developing our own working theories like sink vs float and pouring and scooping as well as gaining an understanding of gravity.
With these developments we are also working on our gross motor skills which will help prepare us for later on us in life, these help us to develop our fine motor skills which we need for school and adulthood. Without first developing our gross motor skills we are unable to develop our fine motor skills which we use when we hold a pencil or type on a keyboard. Everything we learn in PikoPiko as infant and toddlers help us prepare for not only our Mahrui ruma, room (preschool) but also the rest of our schooling career.
We are may look like we are playing and just having fun but so much more learning is going on. Through this wai, water play learning experience we are also learning communication skills both verbal and through reading body language, social skills like turn.
