“Watch Me!” – Little Jumps, Big Achievements

Today the toddlers had a wonderful time exploring and playing around the tyres and sandpit.

The tyres became a fun challenge as the children climbed up and jumped down into the soft sand below.

 It was lovely to see them testing their limits and discovering what their bodies can do. Some children carefully stepped and then jumped, while others confidently leapt into the sand with big smiles on their faces.

Throughout the play, there was lots of laughter and excitement. The children often called out “Watch me!” as they prepared to jump, showing their growing confidence and sense of achievement. Each jump was a moment of pride as they experienced the joy of trying something new and succeeding. It was also wonderful to see how the children watched and learned from their peers.

Some toddlers observed closely before giving it a try themselves, while others encouraged their friends as they waited for their turn. There was a lovely sense of teamwork and cooperation as the children took turns climbing onto the tyres and jumping into the sand. These moments of shared play help to build social skills, confidence, and friendships.

Through this simple but exciting activity, the children were developing their balance, coordination, and physical confidence. They were also learning important social skills such as patience, turn-taking, and supporting one another. Whakataukī: “Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.” With your food basket and my food basket, the people will thrive.

This whakataukī reminds us that when we work together, support one another, and learn from each other, everyone benefits. Today’s play was a beautiful example of children learning, growing, and having fun together.
