Water Play & Cultural Celebrations
Water and sensory play went hand in hand for Term One. Our children have enjoyed learning how water is an integral part of everyday life. Tamariki learns to recycle water by nurturing plants, making science tornado bottles, cooking messy play, and creating new activities. These activities support children's cognitive and emotional well-being through social interactions, speech, and turn-taking, challenging their decisions.
They also allow our diverse learners to partake in group activities. All activities are toddler-friendly and age-appropriate. Besides, creating a culturally responsive environment for all our tamariki and whaanau is a top priority at our centre.
We incorporate children's home languages and celebrate cultural festivals, including Christmas, Matariki, Lunar New Year, Easter, and Diwali.
These celebrations provide a platform for children from diverse cultural backgrounds to acknowledge their uniqueness and enhance the children's mana and their whānau. As part of our commitment to embracing cultural diversity, we formed partnerships with families and whaanau.
We invited everyone to participate in the Holi festival. This event not only enriched their understanding of their own culture but also fostered respect and appreciation for others, making it a truly meaningful experience for all of us.
