What Set for School looks like in the Koru Room

Here at BestStart Botany Road our Set for School programme underpins all that we do and this starts in the Fantail Room and follows your child through the centre to the Koru Room. When children turn 4 and come into the Koru Room there is a dedicated Set for the School portion of their day

From 9.30-10.30, our dedicated teachers plan learning experiences that capture the children’s interest and imagination as well as support children to reach their full potential and have a successful transition to school. These experiences are underpinned by our Areas of Focus which are:

  • Early literacy skills
  • Early numeracy and mathematics skills
  • Curiosity and creativity through Art, Science and Technology
  • Motor skills
  • Social emotional skills
  • Learner confidence
  • Seeking information

During this time the children also participate in mat time where they learn songs and stories and get to share about their day and their learning with their peers. Children really enjoy this time and share with pride.
