BestStart uses a play-based learning approach supported by caring relationships and intentional teaching. Our approach is guided by Te Whāriki, New Zealand's early childhood curriculum, and focuses on helping children learn through play, exploration and meaningful everyday experiences.

High-quality early childhood education recognises that children learn best when they feel secure, engaged and connected to the people and environments around them. Play-based learning allows children to develop skills, knowledge and confidence in ways that reflect their interests, strengths and stage of development.

At BestStart, every centre develops its own philosophy that reflects the children, families and community it serves. While each centre is unique, all are guided by Te Whāriki and share a commitment to nurturing relationships, meaningful play and intentional teaching. Our teachers draw on a range of evidence-informed approaches to create learning experiences that support every child's growth and development.
