This term, our infant room, Te Rūma Kākano, has been going on excursions to our local library's event "baby rhymes". Each session involves a number of songs/rhymes, books, and playtime. We got our tamariki into our 6-seater pram, and made the trek down to Puke Ariki.

Our tamariki really enjoyed the walk, spotting various vehicles and animals along the way. The public enjoyed seeing our tamariki in the pram, making comments, and waving to us. The librarians make sure to welcome us, and all of the tamariki at the beginning of the sessions through a welcome song.

This then lead on to rhymes and songs, where our tamariki enjoy singing and dancing along - this is definitely one of the highlights for us. A few books were read, before the library's special collection of resources was brought out for tamariki to explore and enjoy. Our tamariki enjoyed this part the most, engaging with new and exciting toys; as well as meeting other children and their mums.

Our walk back to Lemon Street was a little quieter, as some of our tamariki were worn out from the trip - often having naps on the ride back. We definitely look forward to our trips, and are excited to plan more in the future; getting to know our local community.
