We have celebrated so many Poroporoaki and teacher birthdays already this year!
This has been such an exciting time to come together to celebrate alongside our peers and kaiako of what happens here when we plan a party.
Our Poroporoaki is a time where we invite our child's family, whanau into our centre where we can all say "Goodbye" and wish the very best for all our friends leaving us for the next part of their learning journey at school.
But first, we sit and reflect on what the learning journey has been like for that child. This becomes an opportunity to share children's profile books, stories, key events, photos and artwork. Our friends give high-fives and hugs, then we move to the waving window to see them all off.
This hearing and sharing of storytelling about the child and their family. It really cements our vision, 'Through love the seed grows and blossoms' and it is heartfelt. Our families love to give a gift thanking us for the love, care and aroha their child has received.
This connection is a lovely way to celebrate their sense of belonging in our place, too. And as our families leave, this opens the door for new families to join our community of learners. This is a wonderful way to connect and show our new families who we are in our place.
