At BestStart, our Set for School programme helps tamariki prepare for a confident start to primary. A recent visit to Māngere East Primary gave our little climbers a taste of Year 1 life, inspired learning, and strengthened connections with our community.

Our little mountain climbers recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Māngere East Primary School. During our visit, we learned all about what Year 1 students do and saw firsthand the activities and lessons they engage in every day.

We also picked up some new writing skills and practised spelling words, which helped us improve and feel more confident in our learning. One of the highlights was receiving special templates from Mrs Peram, which we brought back with us. These templates will be a great resource to continue practising our skills at home and school.

The girls really enjoyed the experience. They were inspired by the friendly teachers and the welcoming environment of the school. It was especially heart-warming to reunite with some of our former tamariki from BestStart who are now attending Māngere East Primary. Seeing familiar faces thriving and happy at school was a wonderful reminder of how far our little climbers have come.

This visit was a valuable part of our Set for School programme, designed to prepare our tamariki for a smooth transition into primary school. We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect with Māngere East Primary and look forward to more visits like this in the future.
