Celebrating the year at Beststart Opihi
Wow what a fantastic night we had at our annual Christmas party in the park! The sun was shinning and the yummy smells of sausages were smelt from afar as excited tamariki ma arrived with their whaanua. Off to explore using their physical skills in the fun playground, burning off their excited energy and running around using their social skills to interact with all their peers, went many of nga tamariki as soon as they arrived.
Others sat down to relax, enjoying their picnic kai along with some yummy cooked sausages on the Temuka Transport community BBQ trailer, we so kindly were able to borrow to keep up with the sausage demand. Throughout the night, our creative kaiako added Christmas face paint to tamariki ma faces and mixed and mingled with all our preschool whaanau, continuing our strong connections, with lots of awesome photos taken along the way.
A beautiful Christmas concert was presented to whaanau that everyone had been working hard on, practicing enthusiastically over the past few weeks, moving our bodies and using our verbal and non verbal communication as we sung and danced excitedly, performing to everyone. Nga tamariki received a lovely book from Beststart Opihi as they sat in anticipation waiting for their turn to collect their gift. The Temuka Fire Brigade surprised us with a visit turning up at the end, in one of their fire trucks which nga tamariki enjoyed checking out the inside, testing out the hose and running through the water as well as asking lots of inquisitive questions.
What an awesome night we all had celebrating the amazing year we have all had together, as a preschool whaanau at Beststart Opihi.
