Cultural Festival
At Beststart Murphys Park, we welcome children and their whanau to our respectful and supportive learning environment where their sense of belonging and cultural heritage is acknowledged and celebrated.
This week we celebrated the Mid-Anumn Festival which is a unique festival that is also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, it is a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture. On this day, the Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of autumn.
Our kaiako decided to provide children with some enriching cultural art learning experiences where our Tui room tamariki were creating a cherry blossom tree. We also had parent involvement when our lovely pukeko room mum came to make some mooncakes with tamariki. Celebrating cultural events develops a stronger sense of belonging which is crucial in building trusting relationships with Tamariki and whanau.
Here at BestStart Murphys Park sense providing a sense of belonging and caring for our tamariki is the most important value that we want to focus on to make our learning environment vibrant and culturally responsive to our community.
