Deano Yipadee and Friends at Best Start Marchwiel
Here at Best Start Marchwiel, the tamariki love the books that Deano Yipadee has created. These books are Nee Naw, Dusty the Digger, EllieCopter etc. We sing along with them every time we have them out. Sometimes you can hear the tamariki singing them on their own throughout the day.
On Friday 7th July, Deano Yipadee and friends arrived at BestStart Marchwiel for a sing-a-long and story time. The tamariki had the chance to explore their literacy, gross motor, communication, and verbal skills while listening and dancing to the books. Tamariki were encouraged to sing along with Deano as well as exploring music and movement. The tamariki and kaikao dressed up as different characters of the stories and shared their favourite stories with Deano himself.
Throughout the week, the tamariki and kaiako worked together to create a Nee Naw photo booth and had lots of pictures and drawings of Nee Naw and friends. Tamariki were proud to show off the colouring-in pictures and Nee Naw photo booth they helped create. This then also encouraged the tamariki to explore ways to express their creative side while colouring and drawing as well as exploring communication, collaboration, and teamwork with others.
