Excursions in our community
At BestStart Melling we have been around our local community to say thank you to all our local businesses and wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The children made cards and pictures for kiwi bank (head office), simply sweet cafe, Connolly street pharmacy and Riverlea rest home.
The children loved exploring our local community and who lived in our neighbourhood. Our nursery room loved seeing the pharamacy and the cafe. They even received a small treat from the cafe owner which they loved. Our toddler room was amazed to see all the computers and wheels chairs at kiwi bank. They even got the chance to go into the lift and across the long bridge. Our preschool made our residents at the rest home so happy and excited. Our tamariki sang pop, bang, crack and showed them their Christmas dance.
Our vision is our centre, our whanau in our centre. The teachers have given our children the opportunity to explore our local community and we were able to develop their social skills with other adults within our community. Teaching the children the true meaning of Christmas is about Spreading joy to our community and sharing the love. As you can see in the photos that everyone had a great time and experience.
