At the heart of BestStart Waihopai is a deep commitment to nurturing ako – a reciprocal learning journey where Kaiako and tamariki learn with and from one another.

We believe every child brings unique knowledge and potential, and through responsive, reflective teaching, we co-construct learning that is meaningful and empowering.

As educators, we provide children with a holistic education that extends beyond the confines of our indoor environments. An essential part of their development is understanding the world and nature around them. Tamariki have been exploring different types of machinery including airplanes and diggers.

With the road work across the road and planes that fly over they are being curious about the world around them. Children are naturally curious about the world around them, and there's no better way to learn than through real-life experiences. On a recent walk through the community, the children were full of wonder and excitement as they observed the construction of the new museum. The highlight of the outing was spotting a towering crane in action—sparking questions, conversations, and awe.

This hands-on adventure helped bring their understanding of buildings, machines, and community development to life. As we explore the world around us, tamariki are learning from each other. Showing respect and kindness to each others point of views.
